Young cyclists wrap up season with a win

CAMPERDOWN Cycling Club held its annual junior club championships last week with its final race of the 2021/22 season.

CAMPERDOWN Cycling Club held its annual junior club championships last week with its final race of the 2021/22 season.

Ned Abbott came in first to win his age group as well as overall, and claimed the season aggregate due to his consistency and effort every week.

Ned ensured a year of bragging rights by winning the aggregate by just one point ahead of older brother Darcy, who also won his age group.

Lawson Clark, Josh Thompson and Lewie West all recorded personal best times in the final race of the season.

Results:

1st – Ned Abbott (12:22), 2nd – Lewie West (12:56), 3rd – Lawson Clark (13:37), 4th – Mason Narik (12:18), 5th – Quinn Clark (11:18), 6th Ava Cunningham (11:20), 7th – Oliver Clark (9.59), 8th – Josh

Thompson (12:06), 9th – Zane Vogels (10:31), 10th – Finn Baxter (10:47), 11th – Darcy Abbott (9:00), 12th – Maisie Cunningham (17:23), 13th – Zack Reagan (12:00).

Age group champions:

Under 17: Darcy Abbott.

Under 15: Oliver Clark.

Under 13: Quinn Clark.

Under 11: Mason Narik.

Under 9: Ned Abbott.
