Young thespians learn new tricks

YOUNG people from across the Corangamite Shire gathered in Camperdown recently for a number of workshops in drama and storytelling.

Led by award-winning actor, director, writer and producer Jennifer Monk, the DramaFest SouthWest workshops saw three levels of workshops run over September and October.

Events and creative industries team leader Tammy Young said the program saw strong engagement from young people across the shire.

“We were excited to welcome award-winning performer Jennifer Monk to lead a series of drama workshops for children and young people in Camperdown at the Killara Centre,” she said.

“With 26 enrolments across three age groups, the sessions highlighted the incredible creativity and enthusiasm within our community.

“The program featured drama club for Prep to Year Two, drama lab for Years Two to Six, and an acting studio tailored for high school students.

“Participants travelled from Port Campbell, Derrinallum, and Terang to take part, demonstrating the wide-reaching appeal of this exciting initiative.”

Activities across the workshops ranged from theatre games, character play and improvisation to learning acting techniques and creating scenes.
