The beloved community even will return on Friday, February 27 with a new starting time.

The ‘All Abilities Fun Run, Walk or Roll’ is also set to return, with the inaugural all abilities event proving a highlight g last year.

The Terang and District Lions Club has confirmed the change in starting time will be made after 43 years in a bid to prevent a clash following the expansion of the V/Line timetable.

Terang Lions Club member Stephen O’Connor said the change would both heighten safety and prevent a potential delay for runners chasing victory, personal bests or even a new record time for the event.

“The new starting time will see the Noorat to Terang Fun Run and Walk start with both runners and walkers at the same time, from 6.10pm at Noorat,” he said.

“As always there will buses available to take competitors out to Noorat from the Terang Returned and Services League (RSL) sub-branch hall on the corner of Bayne Street and Shadforth Street.

“The all-abilities section of the event will start at 6.00pm at the Railway Line in Thompson Street, Terang, and finishes at the RSL hall.”

Mr O’Connor said he was confident the change in starting time would provide a boost, with the earlier start helping more people finish the walking section in good lighting.

“The Terang and District Lions Club hopes that the earlier starts will be an even better time in the evening for all those who are participating in this great community event,” he said.

“Entering its 44th year, the club believes last year’s numbers demonstrated that the event remains strong.

“We are always grateful the help of the Corangamite Shire and all our wonderful sponsors.”

The event will also be supported with the return of two familiar faces who always bring energy to the event, with Justin Staunton, known affectionately as ‘the voice of the fun run’ returning alongside ABC Radio’s Kate Meade.

“Over the years the Noorat to Terang has been fortunate to have had the help of commentator Justin Staunton,” Mr O’Connor said.

“Justin breathes life into the event each year, with his local knowledge and the history of the Noorat to Terang Fun Run and Walk.

“Last year with the inaugural all abilities event, we were delighted to have the help of Kate Meade of ABC Radio to step into the commentators roll for the all abilities section and Kate energized all involved.

“Both Justin and Kate are back on board to help make the evening run smoothly again.”
