Cricket starts this weekend
NOORAT Terang Cricket Club’s 2024/25 season starts this weekend when its division one side hosts Allansford Pamure in a one day, 45 over match at Noorat.
Last weekend the club hosted Birregurra Cricket Club in a practice match for its first hit outside.
The side comprised a mix of players from all divisions and a couple of juniors.
Frontline bowlers for the firsts got a good stint with the ball, with Tyson Hay 1-15, Sam Munro 1-27 and Liam Gear 1-3.
Hugh Kenna was the only multiple taker with 3-7 late in the innings (37 overs were bowled).
The Lions’ international recruit Isaac Toombs starred with a chanceless 100 not out including 13 boundaries and two sixes.
A few players batted for a little while and retired to give others a hit.
Stumps were called after 32 overs having made 2-129.
This week, thanks to daylight savings, the seniors will train outdoors at Terang.
The three junior sides have been training outdoors for the last fortnight and will again train at the Terang nets tonight (Thursday) from 4.30pm.
The under 17s play next Tuesday at Dennington starting at 5.15pm.
The under 15s start Friday next week and will play Allansford Panmure at Panmure from 5.10pm.
The under 13s start this Saturday and will play Nestles at the Warrnambool College oval starting at 9am.
Any junior male or female interested in playing should attend training tonight or contact the club via its Facebook page.
