A great day: The annual Noorat Community Garage Sale proved a hit over the weekend, with hundreds visiting the town in search of a bargain.

The garage sale is an annual event, hosted by the Noorat and District Residents Association, which drew hundreds of bargain hunters to the community on Saturday.

Noorat and District Residents Association member Anna Conheady said this year’s event had drawn strong community feedback.

“It went very well with a good turn up,” she said.

“The only downside is it was very hot, so some people closed up a little earlier than usual, but a lot of people coming to garage sales tend to come earlier so we thankfully avoided the worst of the heat.

“This year we had 26 houses open, and most of the people I’ve spoken to said they had a very good day.

“There were lots of strangers visiting to check out our little village, so all in all we’re really happy.”

Mrs Conheady said the number of visitors was consistent with previous years despite the hot conditions in a nice benefit for those looking to part with their belongings, and those looking for a bargain alike.

“It is always good seeing so many people around our little village,” she said.

“One of our ladies only had half an hour sleep because she was up all night getting everything ready – it’s good to know it all worked out well.

“It is a lovely community day – you see so many people stopping and talking, or enjoying a tea or coffee.

“We couldn’t be happier.”
