Bailey Kavenagh and Tim Delaney have been named as co-captains of the Lions premier team, with Liam Geary named club senior coach.

“We’ve restructured a few roles this year, with Liam taking on the role as sole coach after sharing the captain/coach role with Stephen O’Connor the past two years,” Noorat Terang president Michael Williams said.

Williams was upbeat about the appointment of the club’s new first XI leaders.

“Bailey has been around both clubs (the former Terang CC and Noorat CC) since day dot and is a fantastic young leader,” Williams said.

“Tim has played a lot of cricket and is the ideal man to work with Bailey.”

Williams said the Lions were embracing the move up to the premier division.

“It’s a good challenge, it’s where we have wanted to be from the start since we first made the move.”

For Geary, being sole coach without a captaincy role is something he is looking forward to.

“It will be a bit different not doing the captaincy stuff, I won’t have a game day role,” Geary said.

“I’m looking forward to running our training sessions and developing our young players.”

The Noorat Terang coach is excited by the appointment of Kavenagh and Delaney.

“Bailey and Tim are an ideal mix of enthusiasm and experience,” he said.

“Tim is ultra keen and already bouncing around ideas, while Bailey brings plenty to the mix as well.”

Geary confirmed the Lions had retained the majority of its list from its successful 2024/25 season, though import Isaac Toombs would not be returning.

Noorat Terang also announced the reappointment of second XI co-captains Liam Venn and Martin Wynd, and third XI co-captains Toby Roberts and Jack Kenna.

“It’s great to have that stability with division two and division three,” Geary said.

“All four have done a fantastic job and were really keen to do it again.”

Like Williams, Geary is excited about the move to the premier division.

“It’s taken a lot of effort to get there and it will be a significant challenge,” Geary said.

“It’s awesome for the club.”
