Memorable game for Geary
LIAM Geary’s 150th game saw the popular Lion finish the day with figures of 4/43 but unfortunately the side lost by the narrowest of margins to Port Fairy.

Playing on the Pirates’ home ground last weekend, the Lions’ Premier side won the toss and elected to bat first.
They recovered from 4/51 to end at 7/210 off 45 overs.
An 84 run, sixth wicket partnership between Stephen O’Connor 63 off 87 balls and Gus Bourke 39 from 38 contributed largely to the total.
Bailey Kavenagh added 35 and Tyson Hay 19.
The Lions got an early break through before the Pirates steadied and added nearly a century partnership for the second wicket.
At 2/159 the home side appeared to be cruising to victory.
Liam Geary came back onto bowl and turned the match, dismissing Perera on 99 with the score line at 4/178.
He followed up soon after with two wickets in two balls.
Pressure was on both sides with the Pirates losing six wickets for 31.
The match got to the last ball with the Pirates needing two for victory with one wicket in hand.
The Lions brought the field up to win the game, however a catch just evaded the lunging fielder to get the two runs for victory.
While Geary’s 150th game will be memorable, he very nearly bowled the side to victory, finishing with 4/43.
Tim Delaney was the other multiple wicket taker with 2/43.
The next match sees the Lions host neighbouring rivals Mortlake at the Turf Terang.
The Seconds hosted Port Fairy at Terang and the bowlers were unable to bowl a consistent line with 25 wides.
Port Fairy amassed 5/248 with Darcy Abbott 2/52 the only multiple wicket taker.
Only three players reached double figures, with the Lions dismissed for 93 in the 30th over.
Sam Munro 22, Liam Venn 18 and Darcy Abbott 17 were the top scorers.
This weekend they host Russell’s Creek at Noorat.
The thirds were the only successful side, defeating Allansford Panmure at Panmure.
The home side was dismissed for 86 in the 37th over.
Dean Abbott was the most successful taking 3/14. Caleb Bamford 2/12, Warren Attrill 2/14 and Tom Conheady 2/19 all bowled good spells.
The Lions lost six wickets chasing down the total in 20 overs.
Under 17 players Sam Lillico 21no and Caleb Bamford 19 were the major contributors along with Attrill’s 20 off 16 balls.
The thirds will host Spring Creek at Terang’snumber two ground.
The under 17s, in their last game of the season, have already lost on the first innings in their match against Allansford at Noorat.
Lachlan Primmer was the stand out with 31 from 36 ballswhile SamLillico 11 and Max Heffernan 10 were the only others to reach double figures.
Ollie Clarke 1/5 and Primmer 1/4 were the pick of the bowlers.
The under 15s put in their worst batting display for the season and like the under 17s have already lost on the first innings.
This Friday they will play a T20 to finish off the season.
Ollie Clarke was the stand out making 21 off 47 balls out of the team’s total score of 52.
Liam Kenna and Riley McIntosh were the only bowlers to take a wicket.
The Mortlake Noorat Terang under 13s lost their one day game against Russsells Creek by 20 runs.
The top three batsmen all retired, Alex Gubbins 23, Leo Slater 20 and Braxton Sachs 20.
Zac Clarke contributed 11 in the total of 3/108.
Russells Creek made 5/128 with Jackson Irving, Connor Jewell, Zac Clarke and Braxton Sachs taking a wicket.
Their final game will be this Saturday against Nestles at Noorat.
